Hola,
Well, I am really not that interesting or something because I don’t know what to write. So to answer questions first. Well mom, the apartment, as I thought I mentioned before, is very small and we don’t have space. It is like college dorms so we can’t even go outside without watching each other. Music blaring during studies, parties outside our window at night, etc. We have had a tough time doing laundry as a result. We recently talked with a member and he got us a washing machine that I bought with 80 pesos (about 25 dollars). I figured you guys would approve. The only problem is that it is taking up bathroom space. Not really that big of a deal because our shower is broken and the water doesn’t work. We are showering with a bucket, but since it is getting cold we have to boil water on our stove to bear it. Difficult to wash all the soap off thoroughly. Also clothes don’t dry when it is raining every other day. It was so humid the other day and hot that we were dripping with sweat all day long. I though we were done with all that. Then it got really cold and clothes still don’t dry. I spent this morning washing and hanging things outside, and I almost have all my clothes again. Some clothes have to stay inside because we can’t hang those up with all the college students around. Not room inside to hang things up, but somehow we are slowing getting things dry. I feel a lot more caught up now that we cleaned and did our laundry this morning. It was cold!
Alright so enough rambling. This week has been pretty enjoyable. We are doing follow up with the zone every couple days to make sure everyone is focusing in the zone goals we set and almost everyone is doing much better now. Everyone has set a lot of baptismal dates and shortly here we should see a lot of baptisms. Our investigators all always have problems with marriage and divorces. The Fernandez family has to get the Documents of Andrea which somehow disappeared. That will take until the end of the year to process and all that. The Nuñez family is doing great though. The kids all came to church minus one that was sick. The dad is sick as well fighting anemia (he caught a cold with his weak defenses). A couple weeks more and they will be baptized I think. The older son and his girlfriend need to get married still, but they love the church.
I had the best first lesson of my life the other day with a guy named Mauricio. We found him clapping and he accepted us really easily. He speaks like he is from Spain a bit, but his grandparents are the ones who moved to Argentina. It is cool though. Anyways, when I related the first vision the spirit was really strong. I looked him right in the eyes and he didn’t look away or anything. He just absorbed it all. He understood everything perfectly and said we taught really well. Everything just went so smoothly it was incredible. Mauricio wants to read the entire Book of Mormon, and he seems to be planning on it. I can’t wait to go teach him again!
We have also found several other families that seem promising, but I will wait to see what happens there.
With transfers coming up and only 5 missionaries leaving for home and 9 coming, we are thinking that Elder Peterson might leave and open an area and train to end his mission. He will be pretty upset if he doesn’t get the chance to train in his mission. It is a great experience. I wonder who would come here though. Elder Fletcher is getting ready to change areas here probably too so that would be funny if he came here and we were companions again. I always get nervous for changes in companionships when things are going good.
Well love you all,
Elder McDonald
