Las Cataratas - March 5th

Hey family,
I just wanted to write a quick group email to everyone. Usually I do that with what mom and dad give me, but I didn´t get anything from them this week. Not sure why. It is all right though.
Anyway, I am sure you are all wondering about my area and how things are going. So I will try and tell you a bit. We have a lot of great investigators here in our area and we always are finding more and more people to teach. The family Gassmann has made a lot of progress from what I here from Elder Peterson. He and Elder Vincent had an FHE with them and a member family while I was on divisions with Elder Bruce and they said it went way awesome. We have struggled helping them understand about the whole authority of the priesthood and the need for that in the true church and they finally grasped this concept and are set on praying to know the truth now. The hermana said she wanted to go home and pray right then. We will see what happens then.
The Fernandez family was able to come to church for the first time this past Sunday and they really liked it. The members treated them well and it was an altogether good experience. We have had a lesson with a nearby member and it went pretty well. They really want to know more about the church and are off to a good start. We have an appointment tonight and we are going to try and set a date with them. We will see how it goes.
We also have a new investigator Hector that we taught just last night for the second time. Last night we were a bit disappointed to hear that he hadn´t read anything yet, but we read 3 Nefi 11 with him and he understood everything really well about baptism and everything. He then proceded to point out in the pamphlet that we had given him how Joseph Smith had recieved the same authority mentioned in 3 nephi 11 to baptize people and that that is how the power to baptize was restored in these days. I don´t know if anyone ever makes that connection themselves. It was impressive. He is going to pray to know the truth and read the chapter we left in Alma 32. I feel good about Hector. It is funny because he is a huge guy, very ripped (he works out at the gym) and yet he is the nicest, gentlest guy. Awesome.
Speeking of friendly giants, we also have an investigator, Sergio, that lives right close to our apartment and he is also a huge, nice guy. He talked with the missionaries in Buenos Aires and almost got baptized, read most of the book of mormon too, but had to come here to Eldorado. We are starting to teach him from the start, but he wants to be baptized. We went over the interview questions with him because he wanted to know what he needs to do to be ready. He basically has to work some problems out with his wife right now, but it seems that is going well. He also needs to go to church which shouldn´t be a problem because it is not even a block from his house. Awesome guy.
Another investigator, Laura María, has been coming to church several weeks and likes it, but didn´t except our baptismal invitation. She needs to pray and read and gain her own answer. Right now it is just a nice church for her. In a little bit of time though maybe.
Vandresa Britez also wants to be baptized and we had her set up for baptism, but she needs to work out some problems before she can get baptized with her two oldest kids. She loves the church though and I know she will make it with a little effort and help.
There are a lot of other investigators, but these are the ones that really have potential at this point. Quite the list of awesome people. Oh how I want to see some things happen! It is my last area all over again. Still I know that I am helping prepare a lot of people to make some major changes in their lives. I am so grateful for my chance to be serving a mission.
All right, now a bit about the cataratas (waterfalls). Today as you all know we got the chance to go up to Iguazú and see the cataratas. We woke up early at 5:30 to travel up there in a really nice personal kombi. We fit very comfortably. It was like a mini colectivo. I got in for free luckily due to a paper we got saying we are residence of Eldorado. Otherwise it would have been a whopping 40 pesos or something like that.
We were a little pressed for time, but there was still a lot of time to see la garganta del diablo (devil´s throat) and a lot of the other falls. There are several paths one can take and they switch off every other transfer so I will get to see more later next transfer (probably). Anyways, we traveled by a little train thing to get to the varias falls and it was quite amazing. Really you will have to wait and see the pictures to really know because I can´t really describe it to you other than we watched a LOT of falling water.
We traveled back at 2 to get back in time to write and do a few other things. It was a nice refreshing pday, and actually quite relaxing.
Well, I am about out of time right now, but I want you all to know that I love you. Thanks a lot for your emails and support.
Love,
Elder Aaron McDonald
