Aaron says "This bridge crosses over into Paraguay (man it was hot)."
Aaron says "This random statue was in the middle of centro. Just goes to show you how much the people like their mate here. A man in armor drinking mate."
Family,
Well as to answer your question, yes I kept my nametag on for the baptism. That is how I have been taught to do it, but I don´t really know if it is correct or no.
Well as for news, we have a baptism set up for the 17 of november. The husband, Nahuel is already a member of the church and his wife, Natividad wants to be baptised. We have been teaching them, but we can´t pass by very often because they live outside the city. A collectivo passes by every four hours or so and drops us in the middle of nowhere (I will have to take some pictures). Still she is understanding really well and we are trying to make good use of time. The last time we tried to walk back to the city, but luckily someone came by and offered us a ride in the back of their truck. We took the opportunity. It probably would have taken about an hour and a half to make it to our destination. Unfortunately the man and his family that offered the ride didn´t really show interest in our folleto that we gave them. Still good to know that their are good people out there.
Well the mission has a goal to have a white christmas this year. They want everyone to have baptisms so that we can reach our goal of 1000 baptisms this year. It would be really awesome, but we need people to go to church right now!
I recieved grandma´s birthday card in the mail today and was really grateful to here from her. Make sure and tell her thanks for the letter. Also, I am still looking to see her make her goal to quit smoking. I know their are all sorts of programs out their to help quit, but really their is no substitute for the help of our heavenly father. I hope you all are actively seeking to help her with this. It can´t be easy to do.
As far as food with members goes, yes we eat with members every day now menos domingo and miércoles. Miércoles we usually buy somthing while we are out doing are thing but sometimos we cook. Usually I make some fideos or something nice and easy, maybe add some meat or something like that. Always their is some sort of sauce involved. Well I haven´t heard any complaints from companions yet, they seem to like what I do for food. For breakfast I must say that some good egg sándwiches are really saving me. Cook up some eggs, butter some bread and listo. As far as my blender goes, well I am not using it as much as I would like. Requires effort and time. Still i have been thinking that it is time to bust it out now.
Well you all already heard a little bit about my walking experiences. Really with these two areas combined it has been really difficult. We take collectivo a lot but we also walk a lot. It kind of burns a hole in the pocket. We have worked on a system with our area books and are trying to work a little more efficiantly, but we really need two more missionaries here. It is frustrating because I feel so inadaquate at times and there are so many people that need visits. The church is not in our area and we take collectivo every Sunday. We recently changed the hour of the church and now we are meeting at 8 in the morning. Leaves us no time to pass by for investigators unless they are close to the pension. Still we have found a few people close by.
As for the cds that you want to send, you should be able to send it through normal mail I would imagine. The letter just needs to be relatively light. As for conference talks, well we should get the Ensign and the Liahona of this session but who knows when and if it will really happen. Sometimes with transfers and stuff I never see certain issues of the Liahona.
Well, what more can I say…I just hope that I can make it through the summer. Also I am really looking to coplete with 6 or 7 baptisms by the end of the year. So far we have had 2 and it looks like a 3rd, we need to find a family and get them going to church and committed to a date. We did find some good people this week and we will have to wait and see what happens this Sunday.
Love you all,
Elder Aaron McDonald
