Hello family,
Well, it sounds like vacations have been fun for everyone. To start out, we had transfers already. Everything is done due to the fact that everything passed one day early. They had done calls around the misión to see where the route was cut and all that and due to the results they started everything early. There were several cuts that were going to start later (so they are going now) and several more that were already up. Saénz Peña is cut once again. That city is just crazy it seems. Hard to imagine that I was there once. So maybe you are wondering where I am at right now? Could it be? Well now I am in the wonderful city of...Eldorado. That is right I didn’t move anywhere. The closer we got to transfers the more I wanted to stay here so I suppose I am content.
The Nuñez boys are still on for their baptisms this Saturday. The father, Rodolfo, has been having problems with his appendix and they finally decided that they have to take it out. Right now he is on antibiotics and is trying to wait until next week so as to still be able to go on with the baptisms. Kind of reminds me of dad with Amy’s wedding I believe it was. I feel everything will still go as planned. We bought material to make some pants for two of the boys because somehow the baptismal clothes never seem to exist. The hermanas of the relief society are going to make some today from what we bought. Hope it works out okay. I am sure it will, but it is very true that when someone is close to being baptized the opposition is on.
We still haven’t spoken again with the Garcia family apart from the kids in the doorway. They just never seem to be around. They live in a neighborhood that is really catholic. Their neighbors are cataquistas and their kids are doing the whole little cataquesia. It is funny because the kids are always forced to do it even though they don’t want to. The catholic church is so corrupt. No one even knows what they really believe. It just has to do with all the Santos. They have the most ridiculous Saints too. It is just excuses to do whatever you want. I still have hope for the Garcias though.
The Candido family is still going strong. We need to get them back to church though. The hna. had a huge doubt about something she heard from a friend about baptisms for the dead. We discussed that a bit and she understands better now, but she still needs to look for her answer. The good thing is that they are praying and asking for answers. The hno. also expressed fear for going to church because he said that every time he starts going to church the trials come. We talked a bit about this too and I shared Helaman 5:12 with them. It fit perfectly. We also talked about starting to act in order to gain answers, to show God that they really are willing to make changes and do what he asks. We had invited them to a baptism last week and the baby got sick and they didn’t want to go out with him like that. The hna. really wanted to come though so they were happy when we invited them to the baptism this week as well. This time they are going to make it I hope. To church on Sunday as well I hope. The good thing is that we are resolving doubts and they are looking for the truth and praying. I feel like they are almost there.
Mom the pillow has been washed and it wasn’t very moldy in the first place. I think it should be good now. We do have mold on one of the walls though, but I don’t know what to do about that. I hear there is some anti-mold paint that they use here so I suppose that is what we would have to do. The pension is really small and when it is humid and cold it is hard to air out. Last week it heated up a little and the floor was covered with a layer of water from the humidity. Oh I miss the nice refreshing Utah mountain air! We should just move, but we don’t know where to and we have a contract. I will have to keep my eyes open.
I will also try and find out if the Shakespears know anything about when they are going to speak in their home ward. I don’t know that they know, but at the very least they can tell me the ward they are in. I am sure they will love to see you all as well and tell you all about me.
This transfer I am sure is going to fly by. We have to go to consejo tomorrow in Resistencia and then next week we have a zone conference. Everything is happening really fast because President and hermana Shakespeare leave in like two weeks. We are going to have another zone conference I think with President Castillo. Divisions, meetings, cataratas, whatever else pops up. Things are going to zip on by. Amidst all of this I am grateful for the chance I have to continue working with some investigators. It could be tough because I feel like I have seen many houses and people too many times, but we are going to have to continue looking for new people to teach also.
I am especially excited to have the chance to keep working with the Morel family. They are a part member family and their are 9 kids there. Franco and his dad are not members of the church. The hna. had all the other kids minus the new baby with another man. Franco is 16 and really has problems with a lot of things-drinking, smoking, fighting. He is a really good kid though and loves the things of the gospel. He is really sincere in his prayers and he wants the best for his family and a brighter future. The tough thing is trying to get out of what he is in. We are trying to talk with him apart from the rest of the family as well so as to help him personally. I think that he can totally change his life around. The other week he got cut by a machete on the back and his hand and as such has to rest up in the house. I hope it will give us the chance to help him out more and give him the chance to think and make changes. We will see. I love this family though and would do anything to see them united in the gospel. The dad is already a religious kind of guy, but I think Franco is going to be the key in getting the two baptized.
Well I think I better get going now, but I hope that you all have a great week. Don’t have too much fun on me now! Vacations all the time and whatnot.
Love you all,
Elder Aaron McDonald
